Once upon the time
A dream come truth
We are a Spanish family; Ainhoa is a Marine Ecologist and Manu is the founder of Nexo Surfboards. We live at the Surfhouse with our children Rita and Simón. Twenty years ago we moved to Cádiz in search of a welcoming beach community and a more peaceful life. Now we welcome our guests into the Oasis that we have grown around us.
Here in El Palmar, our lives are deeply connected to the Ocean. For those who love surfing and enjoy life by the beach, we invite you to feel at home and relax in a place where familiy, guests, friends and staff enjoy an atmosphere of mutual respect, equality and care for the environment.

Why is it called NEXO?
The idea behind the name
Plenty of you ask why this is called NEXO. Here goes the story:
It was in 2004 that Manu and Fernando decided to run a handmade surfboard factory. Its name had to embrace the process from the surfers needs, to the detailed customed surfboards and the waves to ride. After some thinking we realized the surfboard is the link between the other two, what merges you with the nature of the sea. And this is what gave us the idea: NEXO, means connection. It is a short word, easy to pronounce in different languages and that perfectly matched our idea of being a commercial name with a real significance. And that is how NEXO Surfboards began.
Ten years later, another dream came true. We were looking for a place to expand that connection and host people with common interests of surf, nature respect, where to enjoy the good weather and the beach, appreciating good and conscious food and cared facilities. Where daily life revolves around the garden and it is easy make new friends, share experiences and gain insights into other lives and ways of living. Everyone at the Surfhouse is on an important life journey; our communal areas are where, for a time, all those journeys come together. And we love to share it with you.

Acting with sustainability
We know that our guests respect and value the environment and we strive to meet the highest standards of environmental responsibility. We encourage responsible use of water while showering and maintaining surf equipment. We supply re-usable water bottles to reduce plastic waste. We reduce our carbon footprint with solar energy panels.
We actively support the cleaning of the beaches (which are wonderfully free of plastic and other pollutants). We source our food locally to provide you with the best possible ingredients, whilst supporting and promoting the local economy.

NEXO Surfhouse is registered with the Andalucian Tourist Board (H/CA/00904). We have regular health inspections and carefully monitor water quality and waste management. We are fully insured and compliant with legal and tourist board regulations. We are proud to pay our taxes and contribute to the growth and prosperity of the local and national economy.
