Family holidays in Cádiz: surf, beach and all inclusive in El Palmar
Family travel guide
Cádiz in July has everything a family needs: beach, sun, warm water and kilometres of coastline. The problem isn’t the destination. The problem is that it almost always ends the same way: parents chasing kids around the beach, nobody truly rests, and you come home more tired than when you left.

Why Cádiz is the best summer destination for families
Cádiz has more than 300 sunny days a year. In July maximum temperatures reach 30–32 °C, the Atlantic water gets to 22–23 °C, and the poniente wind that cools the afternoons is the same one that creates perfect waves for learning to surf. There is no better combination in Spain for an active family holiday.
The Costa de la Luz —stretching along the entire Atlantic coast of Andalusia, from Ayamonte to Tarifa— is home to some of the best beaches in the country: long, fine-sand, far less crowded than the Mediterranean, with waves that kids love. El Palmar, 50 km from the capital, is the epicentre of all this.

The problem with the usual family holiday
Most families in Cádiz organise it the same way: apartment or hotel, beach in the mornings, finding a restaurant at lunchtime, kids’ nap, beach in the afternoon. The result: parents don’t rest because they’re watching the kids, the kids get bored because there’s no structure, and by the end of the week everyone is a bit fed up.
The alternative isn’t a summer camp where you drop off your kids and leave. The alternative is a place where the whole family has their own activity, their own pace, and at the end of the day you meet at the same table with something to talk about.
That is exactly what Nexo does in July.
Nexo Family Pack: holidays where parents get to rest too
From 19 to 31 July 2026, Nexo Surfhouse launches its Family Pack: a week designed for adults and young surfers to surf together in El Palmar, each at their own level, with everything included and nothing to organise.
The key to the pack is that lessons are separated by level and age. Adults have their own group and instructors. Young surfers have theirs. Nobody has to adapt to the other’s pace. At lunchtime, everyone together at the same table with food included.
Separate surf lessons
Adults and young surfers in their own groups with a qualified instructor. Board and wetsuit included.
Private room
With private bathroom and air conditioning. No shared bunks with strangers.
Food included
Breakfast and lunch every day. In-house chef, daily changing menu, vegan options.
300 m from the beach
El Palmar, one of the best beaches in Europe for learning to surf.
The garden
Hammocks, chill-out area, massages, ping-pong. To switch off between sessions.
Surfskate and yoga
Optional activities to complement surfing. Our own wavepark on site.

You don’t need to find a restaurant, book a surf school, or hunt for parking in El Palmar in July. You arrive, drop off the car, and the Nexo team takes care of everything else.

Why El Palmar and not another Cádiz beach
Cádiz has exceptional beaches, but not all are equal for a family that wants to learn to surf. La Barrosa is comfortable but lacks consistent waves. Tarifa is too windy for beginners. Conil is beautiful but the surf is more inconsistent.
El Palmar is different. Its southwest-facing orientation receives Atlantic swell all year round. Its four kilometres of beach have sandy bottoms that produce clean, manageable waves, perfect for beginners of any age. In July, with water at 22–23 °C and waves of 0.5 to 1.5 metres, it is the most accessible surf spot on the entire Cádiz coast for learning.
El Palmar also has something other Cádiz beaches don’t: a village with its own life. Beach bars, restaurants, a weekend market, and the relaxed atmosphere of the Costa de la Luz far from the mass tourism of the Mediterranean. A 10-minute drive away is Vejer de la Frontera, one of the most beautiful white villages in Andalusia. 15 minutes away, the Cape Trafalgar lighthouse.
What families who have already been say

Rafa and Gonzalo, 49 and 6 years old. The treatment from all the staff was magnificent — a real family, they make you feel at home. The surf instructors were all wonderful, true professionals. The food, something out of the ordinary.

Just 300 metres from one of the best parts of the beach. The food is EXCEPTIONAL. We had half board and both breakfast and lunch are delicious. Healthy too.
— Marcos López ★★★★★
Nexo is a very peaceful place, perfect for switching off by the beach. From the first day, we received an incredible level of kindness and attention from the whole team.

The Family Pack price — and why it makes sense
The first reaction to seeing €150/night per adult is to compare it to an apartment. But that’s the wrong comparison. An apartment in El Palmar in July for a family of two adults and one child costs between €120 and €200/night — without food, without activities, without instructors. Then you add: breakfasts (€15–20/person/day), lunches (€25–35/person/day), surf lessons (€40–60/person/session). The bill adds up fast.
At Nexo, the price includes all of that in one managed package. Nothing to organise. A family of 1 adult + 1 young surfer, 5 nights: €1,375 in total. Private room with bathroom and air conditioning, breakfast and lunch every day, surf lessons with an instructor for each person, board and wetsuit included, garden, surfskate and wavepark.
| Profile | Price/night | 5 nights | Includes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Adult | 150 € | 750 € | Accommodation + breakfast + lunch + surf or yoga lesson |
| Young (up to 16 years) | 125 € | 625 € | Accommodation + breakfast + lunch + surf or yoga lesson |
| Optional extras: Surfskate +€15/lesson · Full board (dinner) +€20/day/person | |||
| Example: 1 adult + 1 young surfer · 5 nights | €1,375 in total | ||
What to do in and around El Palmar with children
El Palmar is not just beach. On rest days or in the afternoons, the surrounding area offers perfect plans for families:
Vejer de la Frontera — 10 minutes by car. One of the most beautiful white villages in Andalusia, with cobbled streets, viewpoints and ice cream shops. A perfect afternoon plan after the morning surf.
Cape Trafalgar Lighthouse — 15 minutes away. Iconic, with a spectacular beach at its foot that in July has calm water and little wind in the mornings.
Conil de la Frontera — 20 minutes away. More lively, with a market, restaurants and a town beach that is very comfortable for families with young children.
Zahara de los Atunes — 20 minutes south. One of the most family-friendly beaches in Cádiz, calm and well-serviced, with a village that has an authentic Andalusian atmosphere.
Cádiz city — 50 minutes away. The Torre Tavira with its camera obscura is a must-see in Cádiz with children, and the seafront promenade is ideal for cycling or skating.

Frequently asked questions about the Family Pack
What is the minimum age for children?
There is no minimum age. The Nexo team adapts lessons and activities to each level and age, from the youngest children to teenagers. Groups are organised by level and age so everyone progresses at their own pace.
Are surf lessons together for adults and children?
No. Lessons are separated by level and age. Adults have their own group and instructor. Young surfers have theirs. This way everyone progresses at their own pace without having to adapt to the other.
What exactly does the pack include?
Accommodation in a private room with bathroom and air conditioning, breakfast and lunch every day, one daily surf or yoga lesson per person with board and wetsuit included. Optional extras: surfskate lessons (+€15/lesson) and full board with dinner (+€20/day/person).
How much does a week cost for a family of 2 adults and 2 children?
For 2 adults and 2 young surfers, 5 nights: 2 × €150 × 5 nights + 2 × €125 × 5 nights = €1,500 + €1,250 = €2,750 in total. Everything included: room, meals, lessons and surf equipment.
